Instructional Classes
It is never too late to learn something new. If you've never done kickboxing before, then you're in for the ride of your life! Half of our clients have never even strapped on a pair of boxing gloves before, so you're in good company if this is you. However, be warned: we're gonna train you into being a lean, mean fighting machine!
Our classes are different than most; I think they're more fun, but hey, I'm biased!
We limit our class size to 10 heavy bags so you always receive adequate personal attention. You won't get lost in the crowd here. And you're going to love what we do during class. We don't just "wing" our workouts; they've been carefully designed to give you the proper emphasis on every area of your body, without overworking any particular one. One thing you want to avoid in exercise is "overtraining"; it leads to burnout, fatigue, decreased motivation, and a lack of interest in exercise. Some group classes just push and push you and severely overwork certain muscles and bodyparts (or your heart). You should ONLY be doing the amount of exercise that you can properly recover from. When a trainer pushes you past what you "need", then that trainer is doing you a disservice, and is the tell-tale mark of an amateur. The latest scientific research clearly shows that shorter duration and adequate intensity is the best way to train. You also need adequate recovery for your body (muscles, joints, and nervous system) to recharge, repair, and refuel. We avoid "marathon" workouts and over-using your body.
Our equipment is designed to avoid over-use injury as well. We have specially designed bags to help make sure your hands, wrists, and shoulder joints don't receive more stress than necessary. We had to "demo" MANY different bags to find the perfect one that made the cut, and we haven't seen these at ANY other gym. We care about your joints, and if you get injured or too sore, you won't be able to continue training, and you go back to square one with your exercise results. You want to avoid that at all costs! Exercise is a lifetime endeaver and a habit you want to build into your permanent lifestyle.
